The Government of India, Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs, is organising the 28th and 29th Know India Program (KIP) in April and July this year respectively for 40 participants from select countries all over the world. The KIP is in the nature of an Orientation Programme to provide the participants exposure to various facets of India, including the economy, polity, culture, spirituality, adventure and sports, creativity and the composite character of India and interaction with youth from different parts of the country.
Detailed guidelines about KIP, application form and information about past KIPs can be accessed on Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs’ website www.moia.gov.in Some of the important points in this connection are:
i) The participants to the KIP will be selected by the Indian Embassy from overseas Indians in the age group of 18-26 years who have distinguished themselves in any field and have abiding interest in India and links with India through parentage.
(ii) Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) are not eligible to be considered for this programme.
(iii) It is only open to Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs).
(vi) Selected participants would be required to purchase air ticket for their journey from the country of residence to India and back, as per the schedule prescribed by the Ministry. The Indian Embassy would reimburse 90% (ninety percent) of the total cost of air ticket (at lowest economy excursion fare) to the participants on successful completion of the programme by them. Air/train travel of KIP participants from Delhi to Partner State and back to Delhi will be borne by Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs.
